Saki Akai - Female Japanese Wrestlers
This beautiful young lady is Japanese female wrestler Saki Akai.
Saki works for Dramatic Dream Team aka DDT Pro-Wrestling in Japan and has been wrestling since August 2013.
At five foot eight, 116 pounds she is hardly a "monster", but this woman that has been compared to Chinese supermodel Lin Chi-ling takes bumps in the ring like all the Japanese wrestlers do.
I can't imagine someone like WWE Diva Eva Marie taking the beatings that she does.

Mio Shirai - The Most Popular in Japanese Female Wrestling in 2015
This one kind of caught me by surprise.
The most popular Japanese female wrestler on this blog in 2015 was Mio Shirai.
I dont know if it was because of her closeness with everyone's favorite Kana, or with Kana going to the WWE, Mio just moved up.
Either way, Mio was on top here in 2015.

After training with the Major Girl's Fighting AtoZ promotion for a little over a year, she made her wrestling debut on January 3rd, 2006, against Mika Mizunuma in Korakuen Hall.
She has worked for Major Girl's Fighting AtoZ, JWP Joshi Puroresu (JWP Project) and JDStar and during her career has held more titles and won more awards than you can shake a stick at.
Arisa is five foot three and weighs in at 130 pounds.

Mio Shirai - Female Japanese Wrestlers
I know that when I can't think of anything else to talk about, I usually go to Kana, but today I thought I'd mention one of my other favorite Joshi wrestlers, Mio Shirai.
It's almost like mentioning Kana.
Yeah I know I just posted about Mio and her sister Io when they were the Sexy Purple Thunder Sisters a while back, but Mio has been doing quite a bit in Japan solo.
Mio and Kana defeated Misaki Ohata and Tsukasa Fujimoto on April 21st, 2013 and won the Wave Tag Team Championship, which is the first title Triple Tails.S has had.
Oh yeah, Triple Tails.S is the Mio/Kana tag-team that used to be just called Triple Tails when Io was a member.
Occasionally Mio and Kana have to face each other like they did here at the Regina di Wave Championship tournament.
You can check out Mio's Facebook page here:

And also in 2010, Mio and Io went to Mexico to work for Asistencia AsesorÃa y Administración (AAA), where they wrestled as Kaguya and Oyuki

Mima Shimoda - Female Japanese Wrestlers
Here are a couple of shots of one of my favorite female Japanese wrestlers of all time, Mima Shimoda.
Mima was born on December 23rd, 1970 in Tokyo, Japan and was trained by the legendary Akira Hokuto.
She made her pro wrestling debut back on August 5th, 1987 so she has been wrestling for almost 30 years!
Now she is mainly in Mexico wrestling for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), but she does manage to get to back to Japan now and then to work for the promotions there.

She's so popular here on this blog that when I can't think of anything else to do, I just mention Kana.
Love her or hate her she is one of the most popular Japanese female wrestlers out there today.

Ayako Hamada and Ayumi Kurihara in Shimmer
Like I said in my last entry, Joshi may not be burning everything up in Japan these days, but we are reaping the benefit of that downturn here in the US.
Mainly because of Shimmer.
Here we have Ayako Hamada and Ayumi Kurihara, who held the Shimmer Tag Team Championship from October 1st, 2011 to March 18th 2012.
Interestingly, the tag team they defeated for the belt was Daizee Haze and another Joshi star, Tomoka Nakagawa.

Shimmer - Japanese Female Wrestlers here in the US
Joshi may not be as hot as it once was in Japan, but there's one place it's still pretty hot here in the US....Shimmer.
Shimmer Women Athletes has been bringing some of the best female wrestlers in Japan over here for awhile now.
Tons of Japanese stars like Leon, Ray, Hiroyo Matsumoto, Tomoka Nakagawa, Ayako Hamada, Ayumi Kurihara and Kana have all worked for Shimmer.
And Hiroyo Matsumoto and Misaki Ohata (Seven Star Sisters), Tomoka Nakagawa, Ayako Hamada and Ayumi Kurihara have all held titles in the promotion.
Okay Seven Star Sisters only held theirs for a day but still.....

Takako Inoue Wrestling Mima Shimoda
Here is a wrestling match posted on YouTube by xkingx2009 with two of my favorite Japanese female wrestlers, Takako Inoue and Mima Shimoda.
Even though they are both awesome wrestlers, they do look a little bit like they just stepped off the set of the Power Rangers here.

Mutual dislike is not very well hidden, as they start off with a hair muss by Takako and a slap by Mima.
More slaps, chops and an Irish whip and the two lock up in the center of the ring in the classic test of strength.
That gets broken up and the two women launch into an exchange that shows just how well they are able to neutralize each others moves.
Is it considered a camel clutch if you are just sitting on your opponents back pulling her hair?
Well the ref makes Mima break the hold, but that's followed by more hair pulling, a hair-mare, and some rope choking.
I guess Takako gets tired of Mima's rule breaking, because when Mima tries to initiate another test of strength, Takako takes her hand...and promptly bites it!
But it doesn't take long for Mima to cheat her way back into control and take the match outside the ropes.
Mima even takes her out into the cheap seats and gives her a bodyslam on the concrete.
You have to love Mima though.
After leaving Takako on the floor, she goes back to the ring, climbs up on the turnbuckle and taunts her.
Takako climbs back into the ring, and Mima almost immediately leg tackles her and traps her in a Boston crab.
Not satisfied with JUST a Boston crab, she changes up to a single leg crab and pulls Takako's knee pad out of the way so she can get a better grip.

Ayako Hamada Gone From TNA
On Monday, December 6th, 2010, TNA Wrestling released Ayako Hamada.
Ayako (or Hamada as TNA was billing her) was one half of the current TNA Knockout Tag Team Champions along with Taylor Wilde.
Of course her release is not that much of a surprise.
TNA acted like they really had no idea what to do with Ayako (who has over twelve years experience in the ring).
In January 2010, she teamed with Awesome Kong and defeated Taylor Wilde and Sarita to win the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Titles.
Then Kong left the company and they were stripped of the belts.
Ayako only showed up now and then until she and Taylor Wilde beat The Beautiful People (Velvet Sky and Lacey Von Erich), winning the Knockout Tag Titles once again.
That match was Ayako's first time on television in four months.
I suppose this is another phenominal misuse of talent that we can lay at the feet of Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff.
Way to drive the Knockouts division into the ground guys.
Well Ayako has already worked for SHIMMER Women Athletes and Jersey All Pro Wrestling while she was working for TNA (God knows she had enough time), so we still may see her up here North of the border.
If not, I'm sure Asistencia Asesoria y Administracion (AAA) in Mexico would love to have her back.
And just for the heck of it, here are two greats, Ayako Hamada and Mima Shimoda going at it from back in 2000.
Posted of course by DoubleMiz
