Vintage Japanese Women's Wrestling

Here are some pictures of Old School Japanese female wrestlers.
The vintage female wrestlers seem to be very popular on my other wrestling blogs so I thought I would give them a try here and see how everyone liked them.

Hibiscus Mii - Japanese Female Wrestling

Hibiscus Mii is a Japanese female wrestler that works for the Ryukyu Dragon Pro Wrestling promotion.
If you have followed Joshi you may know her by another name...Apple Miyuki.
Although she has also wrestled as Cosmic Warrior Justine and Miyuki Matsuyama.
She was trained by Japanese wrestler (and MMA fighter) Taka Michinoku, and made her debut on January 14th, 2002.
The "The Sadistic Princess" uses a move called the Apple Buster as her finishing move, which is a Spinning headlock elbow drop.

Yuhi vs Hamada - Japanese Female Wrestling

Here is retired Japanese female wrestler Yuhi nailing Ayako Hamada with a flying kick to the side of the head.
After only two years as a pro wrestler, Yuhi retired in March of 2014.
Incredibly she retired just afetr he High School graduation.
Yeah, the two years that she wrestled, she was in High School and she retired at the ripe old age of 19.

Of course Ayako Hamada is still going strong.
She debuted in 1998 and is still going today.

Mimi Hagiwara vs Peggy Lee - Japanese Women Wrestling

Here is an "Old School" picture of Peggy Lee Leather going up against Mimi Hagiwara.
Well...pretty much mauling Mimi which is what Peggy was good at giving and Mimi was good at receiving.

And here is the match that I think the picture came from on YouTube....

OZ Academy 263 - Six Woman Tag Team Match

OZ Academy 263 (Country of OZ 2012) has been posted online at YouTube and it's great.
My favorite match on it is a match that sounds like any Joshi fan's dream.
Mio Shirai, Yumi Ohka and Mayumi Ozaki taking on Tomoka Nakagawa, Tsubasa Kuragaki and Manami Toyota.

Mio Shirai, Yumi Ohka and Mayumi Ozaki

The sad thing is that this wasn't the main event match so they really didn't go all out.
Just looking at the line up though, you would expect this to be the main event anywhere.

Japanese female pro wrestlers Kana and Mio Shirai again.
But this time in a happier moment.
As in not trying to kill each other.
They look so happy.....

Mima Shimoda - Female Japanese Wrestlers

Here are a couple of shots of one of my favorite female Japanese wrestlers of all time, Mima Shimoda.
Mima was born on December 23rd, 1970 in Tokyo, Japan and was trained by the legendary Akira Hokuto.

women wrestling photo-japanese women wrestlers-asian women wrestling

She made her pro wrestling debut back on August 5th, 1987 so she has been wrestling for almost 30 years!
Now she is mainly in Mexico wrestling for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), but she does manage to get to back to Japan now and then to work for the promotions there.

Hiroyo Matsumoto and Misaki Ohata - Japanese Female Wrestling

As I have pointed out numerous times here, you dont have to go to Japan anymore to see great Japanese female wrestling.
Case in point, Hiroyo Matsumoto and Misaki Ohata who have been wrestling for Shimmer Women Athletes.
Hiroyo and Misaki were even the Shimmer Tag Team Champions at one point as "Seven Star Sisters".
Okay...they only held the titles for one day but still....

Misaki has done quite a bit of wrestling for Shimmer, but hasn't appeared with the promotion since 2011.
Hiroyo has also worked for Shimmer and appeared as late as October 2012 with them.

Apple Miyuki - Japanese Female Wrestling

Here's another female Japanese wrestler that has held the Dramatic Dream Team Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship (three times actually) Apple Miyuki.
(First Cherry, now Apple...hmmmm...)

japanese women wrestling-women wrestling matches-japanese women

Apple has been wrestling since 2002 so she has spent 11 of her 28 years on this Earth in the ring.
But that is something you see quite a bit of in Joshi.
Dedication.

Besides the DDT belt, she has held the Kaientai Dojo WEW Hardcore Tag Team Championship (twice withYOSHIYA) and she won the Osaka Pro Wrestling OPW Battle Royal Championship.

Here she is in a match with Ofune...

And here is Apple's official blog.
But it's not been updated since 2011....

Japanese Female Wrestlers - Ai Fujita

Japanese female wrestler Ai Fujita seems to be showing a recent upsurge in interest.
Ai was born on February 15 1976 and actually had two pro wrestling debuts.
She debuted against La Amapola in 1998 in Mexico, and in 1999 in a tag team match with Candy Okutsu against Ayako Hamada (current TNA Knockout Hamada) and Mika Akino in Japan.

Here is part one of a match between Ai Fujita and Momoe Nakanishi posted by...take a wild guess...yes, nagashimark on YouTube

Doesn't the interviewer kinda look like Hiro Nakamura on "Heroes"?
Of course you can see the second part of the match and more Japanese female wrestlers on nagashimark's YouTube channel.
