Oz Academy Women's Professional Wrestling (or Oz Academy for short) was founded in 1998 by legendary Japanese female professional wrestler, Mayumi Ozaki.
Although Mayumi considers the start to be earlier in 1996 because that was when the actual stable itself was formed.
Some of the very best in joshi puroresu have worked for Oz.
The promotion itself has two titles, the OZ Academy Openweight Championship and the OZ Academy Tag Team Championship.
As far as I know, Jungle Jack 21 (Hiroyo Matsumoto and Tomoka Nakagawa) still have the tagteam belts and Akino is the Openweight Champion.
Well she might be.
This five foot four, 125 pound lady from Misawa, Aomori, Japan was born on November 13th, 1986.
She has not been going at this long, having only made her pro wrestling debut in February of 2012.
This young lady overcame a lot to get to where she is today.

I haven't seen a great deal of her matches, but what I have seen I like.
And she has that "something" that you cant just learn.
Act may be one to watch in the coming years.
Stardom 5STAR Grand Prix: Act Yasukawa vs. Yuzuki Aikawa
A while back I did an entry on Japanese Women Wrestling on YouTube with the most popular videos at the time.
Well it's been over a year so here are some of the most popular videos with Japanese women wrestlers on YouTube now.
First up we have Chihiro taking on Ray in a match from 2008 for the Japanese wrestling promotion Battlarts.
Even though Battlarts shut down in 2011, we can still see matches like this thanks to YouTube and TFCHooligan69.

Next we have a match between two classics, Ayako Hamada and Azumi Hyuga.
This match was for the Queen of Arsion Title back in 2001.
You'll notice this is just part one of the match and it's over nine minutes long which by itself is what....two WWE Diva matches?

Again we go back to TFCHooligan69 for this awesome match from 1989 between Manami Toyota and Toshiyo Yamada for the All Japan Women's Pro-Wrestling title.
There's 25 seconds of dark screen at the begining but dont freak out, it's there.

I did an entry awhile back on the WWWA World Heavyweight Championship. It was the main title in the Japanese women's professional wrestling promotion All Japan Women's Pro-Wrestling (AJW).
But they had another title, the AJW Championship.
This title started in 1980 and ran until after the promotion closed in 2005.
The first ever AJW Champion was Rimi Yokota, better known as Jaguar Yokota. She won the belt in Tokyo on December 15, 1980, beating Nancy Kumi.
The title was vacated a few months later on March 7, 1981.
Devil Masami then defeated Tomoko Kitamura on May 9, 1981 to claim the title, and it was vacated again on April 7, 1982.
Lioness Asuka then defeated Masked Yu on July 19, 1982, becoming champion until she was defeated by Kaoru Matsumoto on January 8, 1983.
Asuka came back and beat Kaoru Matsumoto taking the title again till it was vacated yet again on January 18, 1984.
On February 28, 1984, Itsuki Yamazaki defeated Noriyo Tateno to win the belt, and she held it until it was vacated AGAIN on February 25, 1985.
These two ladies are known in Joshi Puroresu as "The Sexy Purple Thunder Sisters".
They are Mio and Io Shirai, so I'm assuming that they really are sisters.

Hiroyo Matsumoto is a female Japanese wrestler.
She works for the IBUKI promotion in Japan.
She also worked for Mayumi Ozaki's promotion, Oz Academy.

Nanae Takahashi is a professional wrestler from Japan. She has wrestled for prominent Japanese promotions All Japan Women's Pro-Wrestling and Pro Wrestling SUN, and has held multiple world championships.
Nanae Takahashi graduated from All Japan Women's Pro-Wrestling's (AJW) training class of 1996, and rose to prominence at a time when AJW was beginning its decline. Early on, she achieved the most fame as part of the tag team Nanamomo with classmate Momoe Nakanishi. Together, Nanamomo won four tag team championships, the AJW Tag Team Championship twice (on November 23, 1997 and August 23, 1998) and the WWWA World Tag Team Championship twice (on July 16, 2000 and July 6, 2002). Concurrently, Takahashi was making a name for herself as a singles competitor, winning the AJW Championship on March 1, 2000, and the junior division competition at that year's Japan Grand Prix. Having established herself as a major competitor, Takahashi won the 2002 Japan Grand Prix, and won her first WWWA World Heavyweight Championship on December 12, 2004. During AJW's final years she won the WWWA World Tag Team Championship three more times (each time with a different partner), and the WWWA World Heavyweight Championship once more. She was the last WWWA champion, handing in the belt to promoter Takashi Matsunaga immediately after winning it on March 26, 2005, due to the imminent closure of All Japan Women.
At an independent show held on July 14, 2006 to celebrate her tenth anniversary in professional wrestling, Takahashi announced her intention to start her own promotion. He stable, the Dream Catchers, held their final show on the following September 3.
On October 1, 2006, Takahashi defeated Africa 55 for the resurrected AWA World Women's Championship at the debut of her new promotion, Pro Wrestling SUN. The promotion is a sister promotion to Pro Wrestling ZERO1-MAX, an affiliate of the revived American Wrestling Association. On January 14, 2007, Takahashi lost her world championship to Amazing Kong.
